I speak German and understand everything, and by doing so, I feel sorry for the athlete. He is invited for a Silver and Bronze Medal interview BUT (in my opinion) doesn't get any credit for it, instead the program focuses on the well known English athlete. I guess they need a new Journalistic Olympic Team. Congrats to Maximilian and shame on the Germans.

Haha, aw man, that makes me wish they had subtitles on the Chinese competitions here on RUclips, because I can't understand a word (they have awesome coverage too, but ugh, the chinese... not understanding what they're saying is so annoying). I can understand why they love them, haha, though I've never seen an article like that here. We only stay up to watch because it's the Olympics: a bunch of sock-puppets could be the athletes and we'd still watch. HK sounds like a fun place^^

But they are sooo hot~ the Chinese commentator is Li Xiao Peng, a member of the gold medal men's gymnastic in 2008, he was like "hey look the german team is handsome!" so the camera turned to them, LOL, In HK reporters write about how girls love the muscular athletes and stay up late to watch Olympics. LOL

We make too many crude war and Oktoberfest jokes to look past their nationality, sadly. We're stupid like that. You know, that's funny too: magazines and articles etc, they rarely (if ever) mention anything about looks here. I want to think it's "better" journalism, but then we pad the text with useless crap and HUGE photos, so I dunno. Really? I can't stand the NBC ones, but I don't think I've heard Miller; I much prefer the British (the Swedish just talk and talk and talk). Very factual.

yeah I live in the states(Asian American) so I do get different perspective to compare. In Hong Kong it's mostly because of their look I will be honest, and it is a much different scene where all the article talks about how handsome Philipp is and how he's really buff and the German team is a great looking team LOL. NBC version of Olympic was commentated by Shannon Miller which I enjoy a lot, finally a non-biased version from someone who is in the know!

Hehe. Yeah, it's something I've seen when trolling the web: German athletes are very popular to the East. I suppose it's interesting, seeing as interest for them here in Europe isn't quite as high. I think he'd be great fun as a commentator: "And here's Marcel Nguyen: you know, he gets wasted after like three shots. So get busy, ladies. What do you mean I can't say that?" And he'd be more familiar with his fellow gymnasts so he could give some insight, like "he finds this hard" or something.

I think he will make a fine male model! You know Marcel is going to Hong Kong to work for the New Year, they love him and Philipp in Hong Kong! Many of the articles published during Olympics sited several female celebrities saying that the German boys are very hot. Marcel is going to be doing countdown in Hong Kong and all the girls are already super excited. I like Philipp's voice so I hope he talks when he's on TV!

You know, when I think of Marcel, I hear the commentator from the Olympics during the high bar finals (where she gushed)... and that giant tattoo he's got. That would've been interesting to see. I'll miss Philipp too... maybe he can work as a male model? He did for GQ (if all the photos of him exercising in his underwear are anything to go by... yes, I google everything). Oh, as a commentator would be fun - I find that recent ex-gymnasts make the best ones (not those who did it 20 years ago).

I know, good thing Marcel is still doing gymnastics else I would be a really really sad girl. I did a excel spreadsheet on how the German team would have done in the olympics if Philipp were to perform like he did in Tokyo 2011. Guess what? Germany would have won team silver. I will miss seeing Philipp and his face and looking super buff and all smiles. I hope he gets to work as a commentator.

Oh, right, duh. Oh, I never really liked the Vault... it's over so quickly :( The High Bar I get, I mean, he got a 16.066 in Tokyo which was damn impressive. Haha... and then security will drag you away. Yeah, it's such a shame that he's retired: he's only 25, but I can understand it. After the fall last year (was scary: I thought of poor Yelena and Ronny then). Good that he's using his marketing degree for something :) But damn, retirement... it just won't be the same to watch anymore.

oh you are talking about world gymnastic championship! the one in stuftgart is world cup. Any case, his base event is Vault and High bar. Philipp did look amazing in Tokyo in 2011. Hey if I see him, I will give you a big hug and tell his girlfriend to take good care of him. Nah I am not trying to jump him and drag him away, I go on his facebook every wek to post something, I chat with other fans and I will comment on his Facebook because I think he still needs some audience.

Haha! That could be funny, if one of the workers their tells Philipp as he walks in "Dude, that girl's come here everyday and she keeps staring towards the counter. It's effin' creepy! And I think she's gonna throw up: she's had nothing but sandwiches for a week now." Oh, he was amazing in Stuttgart. I only have videos to go by (I'm sure it'd be more amazing live), but he's just... woosh. It's always the all-around champions who captures the style, strength and grace of gymnastics so well.

yes! one of my net friend saw his at world cup in Stuttgart, and said he is super friendly. I want to run to Cottbus, hang out there for a few days until I run into Philipp ;))))))))) I will eat lunch and dinner in his store until I see him! haha!

Hehe, me too. Well, a happy guy, anyway. Though I'd probably go "Haaaah..." with a really stupid grin on my face and then, in really bad German, ask him for his autograph and then run giggling out of the store (I'm like 5 years old on the inside). I love how he seems so down-to-earth and enjoying himself.

it's not a euphemism, the store makes sandwiches and sell them. The store is in his hometown Cottbus.

yes, the sandwich store belongs to him. His two stores in Cottbus are called "Sandwich Manufraktur" and "Brotzeit"
